Hi guys, does somebody knows what the original battery look like in a 86 capri. I would like to get a picture of it. Maybe Sandy in your low miles car.

Original Battery
Sometime around 87-89 they changed to all black. I should know as it's on the MCA judging test. 86 should have a black top and white case. There are no reproductions yet that I know of. MCA will deduct 1 point for a new Motorcraft battery unless it is shown in the unrestored class, then it's the full 6 point deduction. I don't know what any Mercury group would do for judging.

Hum, I tought it was a flat top. It will be hard to make it look like this. I may try to find a used cap and mold it just to stick them on top of the new one and reproduce the decals.

My battery is a replaced one. It's a Ford MotorCraft, of the correct measurments and output. It's all black with red raised FORD MOTORCRAFT
Sandy passed away in 2012. He will be forever missed.

The other day a 93 Cobra came in for a battery and it still had the OEM battery with 33,000miles. well he junked the battery so I scored it and being very careful I gutted the battery. It's just a shell now with the lead post but inside cleaned out. thought it may come in handy. Know if I could get a 85 and/or a 86 to come in
