Wet accelorator foot

Post by KHummel66 »

I posted this question on FEP, but thought I'd pose it here as well in case it's something related to the convertible conversion.

Whenever I run the A/C or defroster for more than 15 miles on the 85 'vert, I can be assured of at least a quarter cup of water pouring out of the driverside footwell heating duct. It's not coolant, it's clean, clear water.

Anyone have any idea what's causing this, and how to fix it? Is there a drain line somewhere that is plugged? Is some component of the system defective and needing to be replaced?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks, Keith

Drain

While I cannot confirm that the water will come out on your foot, there is a drain on the passenger side that needs to be clear. You should be able to find it below the heater box. I don't recall if it is on the firewall side or on the transmission tunnel but you should be able to see it from inside the car.

There is a piss teat on the firewall for the heater box to expell it's blown heater core coolant and I imagine it also lets out the AC water. Sounds like it is plugged.
