My capri got a boo boo over the weekend

This is a place where we discuss anything BUT ascMcLaren cars. TV, movies, vacations, family, pets, girlfriends, college, school, OTHER cars, whatever....that kinda thing. Taboo is Religion, Ethnic Background, Politics.

My capri got a boo boo over the weekend

Post by capriman86 »

Went to Long Island for a Foureyed BBQ with some friends.
There was my friend Paul in his 82GT and my friend Chris with his 79 Orange capri that made the journey Saturday AM at 4am along my wife and I in the capri.

Kristen (my wife) and I went out for a quick bite to eat later that night after the BBQ, on returning back to the hotel, I was turning at a light, and out of the blue a Acura SUV came through, screeching her brakes. When I saw her, it was took late. If I stopped the door would have got it, so I tried to gun it, but not enough time. Things happen so quick......

The impact sent Kristen into the console and she has a bruise on her arm. We are both a little achy but nothing serious. So I am completely grateful for that. We are both alive and well and being her side of the car, I am really lucky my wife only has a bruise from all this shyt.

it hurts so bad, i look and keep wanting to cry.

Rear end is bent, or the axle is bent, the rim is banged up, so we put the spare up front and the front in the rear in hopes just the rim was bent...nope.

So it is sitting on Long Island until I hear from the adjuster tomorrow. Going to see if they will pay for the tow or if I will have to go get it. Its at a friends house safe and sound for now at least.

Just all sucks bad....but She will come alive again..she has to!

Glad you and the wife are ok. Gotta love inattentive drivers. Probably on the cell phone to boot.

Sorry to hear about the accident, glad your both ok.

I know how you feel about looking at the damage. It does make you sick. I hope you hear good news from the Ins. company.

I've seen other pics of your car in the past and always thought it was one of the cleanest/nicest capris I've seen.

Good luck!

That sucks.

Who was at fault (I assume the other driver but what does the Police report say)? Is insurance covering it all?

NY is a no fault state, so no tickets on either of us.

I don't have the official copy of the report either.

Where I was in her lane I am partially at fault, where she hit the rear of my car that puts me 3/4 of the way through the turn and her at fault as well. Its tough as it was night time and things happen so fast.

I will say, Long Island drivers have no respect for each other it seems, the 3 groups of us that went there were amazed how aggressive they all are and nobody uses turn signals.

Yeah. NYC drivers take their driving lessons from the NYS School for Bumper Car Driving and Demolition Derby Racing.

There is a saying: "you can't have a nice car in the city, so don't bother".

I cringe every time I drive through there.

The other thing is, as you've probably learned is that you have to be very direct as to where you want to go. People WILL move around and yield if they know your intentions.

If you hesitate, make a mistake, do NOT make a correction. A slight move to the right means, you are changing lanes. CHANGE LANES. Do NOT pull back into the lane you were in, there will be a car already there. If you miss your exit, too fricken bad.

I drove down there sometimes when I worked in Westchester NY. I never had a problem. My wife who is a terrible "make up yer fricken mind" driver, had tons of trouble. People would roll down their windows verbally berate her constantly. It was pretty funny.

Wuss drivers are not welcome drivers in NYC. That's just how it works there.

Whoa, that is heartbreaking, man oh man do I ever feel badly for you. At least you & yors were nit hurt (well, too badly!)

Get a good body man for that Capri.

Toothers on board: THIS is why mine stays in the garage. I am in NJ - home of the worst drivers, only because the females are ALL on the cell phome, constantly ! It's against the law, but, you'd never ever know it.

I saw a great bumper sticker : Get the hell off the phone. and drive.

holy crap that sucks.

NY drivers sure sound like Michigan drivers. everything Mike said sounded like Michigan.
My wife who is a terrible "make up yer fricken mind" driver, had tons of trouble. People would roll down their windows verbally berate her constantly. It was pretty funny.
LOL! sounds like my fiancee trying to drive here in Detroit. she is from hilly billy Ohio and cant drive worth a shyt.

this is why when i take my car out i have 1 eye on the road and 1 eye on every single frikin car around me. btw michigan is a no fault state yet i still have gotten tickets for being at fault during a crash.

im still sick. i always loved your capri
