Boy, that VIVID scorching sun, that day, totally bleached out the ascMcLaren hood decal on the coupe. Trust me... it *IS* there !

Post by svt1996cobra »

Sandy,

Look's great!

Did you add the stripe in the molding?

Looks great Sandy!

By the way what model number is that on the fog light lens covers? I would really like to find a set.

I have no model # on the lens, or at least that I can see.

Yes, I added the ultra thin color matched stripe into the
indenture in the moulding. It is tape. I also made
the license plate frame. It's a L-M frame (plastic)
part of the "Appearance Group" and since it's
plastic, it is paintable. I match the spray paint
at a hardware store by the cap to a small
piece of tape (I bought extra decals & a
roll of tape) to the paint cac top. Exact match.

Yes, it's hard to stay away from it. It's one
hell-of-lot of fun to drive.
True meaning of power-on-demand. I wish that
McLaren had
offered leather interior WITH the Recaros as
an option for Coupes.

This car was bought new, by me at Wayne Lincoln-Mercury.
(Wayne, New Jersey)
It was "in stock". When I got there, (not exactly in my backyard)
I could not believe my eyes! They had in excess of 18 ascMcLarens!

1986s all. Coupes: 2 black - 2 White - 2 Navy Blue - 2
Silver - 2 Grey
1 each 5-Speed & 1 each Automatic. Just 2 has T-Tops & 2 has pop up manual sun roofs.

Some were sold, with sold stickers on them.

Then

They had 10 'Verts. 2 Red, 2 Black, 2 Dark Blue, 1 Paris Blue regular,
1 Paris Blue Spring Special and 1 Silver Spring Special and 1 White Regular .

They wound up giving away the White Regular.

I have never been back as it's too far to go to and
have to take a major interstate and heavy traffic area with circles to go around. I go to my local L-M dealer in a residential area
8 miles from me.

86 Coupe

Saw one of these yesterday in New Port Richey. It went thru the intersection while I was stopped at a red light. Hadn't seen it before. In fair condition from the glance I got. Young kid driving, hat on backwards.

Kind of caught me by surprise.

Actually I was talking about the number in the top right hand corner of the Hella lens cover.

I have a couple of sets of fog light covers. They look the same as Sandy's but don't have the number in the upper left like his.

Hank in Florida has them. You can ask to buy them.

Ditto, I want a set as well. Guess I'll give Hank a call, unless you want to sell a set Mike. :D

It's a stylized version of the 5.O. It does say 5.0 SC -
from the BACK deck-lid of the 1986 Capril Convertible.
(They can easily come off, as it's got sticky tape.
Heat with hai blower for 10 minutes & they easily
come off. No fading underneath as she has been in the
sun under 10 hours !!
