Had to laugh, when I saw my name come up! Was not expecting that!

'Ya, I have alot of "stuff". I was never into postcards, so none of them. The BEST are the "Salesmen's Guides" as those little books tell it all.
The price, on what models you can get what and what is not available with what and what you need to order together with what and restrictions and sales order codes and and and.... a world of info in a book no bigger than a 4 pack of cigars. They do not show it, but I have the dealer hand out color charts from 1979-1986.

Where Ford Dealers promoted the Mustang, stocked GTs across town the Mercury dealers could care less about the Capri. Firstly, they had 2 brands to sell (Lincoln & Mercury) and there was little demand for the Capris. Mostly a car for young girls i.e. Sporty looking, small, economical and easy on gas and a 4 Cyl. engine. The Guys were over at the Ford dealer checking out the GT !!
I always liked the blunt front on the Capri better as well as the bubbleback hatch that began in 1983.
I never (today) see a mint example of any Capri, other than McLarens.
Sandy passed away in 2012. He will be forever missed.

1990 Final Car prior to the 12 Silver Anny Editions
1990 Silver Pearl Anny Edition
1986 Coupe Full Pkg #109 of 114.

I'm so old I bought a 1976 german Capri II V-6 new from my Lincoln Mercury dealer back in the day. If you think they didn't care about the new Capri the german ones were almost an embarrassment to them. They had a Pantera on the showroom floor that was saleproof too.

Plenty out there Sandy. Saw a superb example at Carlisle this year. Also a few of the guys over on FEP have some real nice examples. Perhaps you mean "see" in person, but they're out there.

Actually made friends with a guy last night at the Long Island Bellmore car cruise night. Guy with an 86 solid roof car, pretty nice car. Not showroom fresh but real presentable.

Sandy's definition of mint is 10k mile car or less perfection. No mods, no dings, no nothing.

There is maybe a half dozen Capris in the country that I have come accross that fit this bill.

There aren't many Mustangs either but they do come up quite regularly.

Got pics?

I wouldn't consider the GP4 as counting since it is modified by asc...so I consider it a "McLaren" like Sandy mentions in his post. Simple Capris are HTF in showroom condition.

I meant STOCK Merc Capri 5.O "RS" 1984-1986, Non ascMcLaren, in near showroom condition. Not modfied, not cstomized, not hit" and all 100% original - Like finding a two dollar bill in your change !

BTW, I am going off line until tomorrow night, to travel to celebrate the Holy Day. My best to all. :D
