Capri vert doors
Capri vert doors
What did Ford use for doors on Capris destined to be made into verts? I see that the D32 code for the Mustangs included the installation of Mustang convertible doors, but what about the Capris? Were they T-top doors, Mustang convertible doors, or did ASC cut the frames off themselves?

I THINK they were modified by them. My doors look like hand fabricated in some sections.

I have not found absolute proof of T-Top Doors being included in D32.
T-Top Doors would have made sence....But I cannot say with any absolute statement, that D32 included them.
It might have been a DIFFERENT code, or which I am not aware of.
They (FORD) could not have used D32 across the board, as coupes w/out T-Tops, would have been T-Top doors!! Since all VINs prefex was the same, to the computer, they were all coupes. Including T-Top doors INTO D32, woulda given every ascMcLaren T-Top Doors. That would not work on cars ordered w/out T-Tops. It's only a guess....but my guess is that ascMcLaren took the tops off themselves.
(Educated guess!)

Troof doors are modified solid roof doors.
If you are looking to make some doors work as a replacement, any door from 80-86 should be useable. You will need to move all your old door guts over to the new shell.
For 87+ doors, you can use them but you need to weld up some holes where the newer style weatherstrip trim attaches. Plus there is a big speaker hole in the door that the older doors do not have.
