Dodge Challenger R/T

I've said this since Day 1. I'd buy a Mustang, 'cause I like Convertibles - but, when comparing Coupes, The Challenger cannot be beat.
I drove one and was blowen away. Quiet, top notch fit & finishing, fast as heII and extremely luxurous inside the cabin. A super coupe !

I almost wrecked while staring at one of those going down the highway. This car is unbelievably gorgeous. One of the hottest and sexiest cars to ever see the light of day....if not THE hottest.

I'll add that if I could get the green light from my wife, I would sell the asc, sell my 4Runner and buy one of these as a daily driver. I would have a permanent grin on my face 24/7. This is not a joke.

The interior is amazing!

Headliner: Soft, padded velour
Rear Seat: Designer for humans over 5 foot 9 iches
Rear Seat has a w-i-d-e fold-down center armrest !
Carpet: Thick and soft, too.
Visibility? Like inside a fish tank !
Power? Hold On ! Could run away from my 86 Capri McLaren,
Can hang with a 'Vette. (AND) it was whisper quiet, inside.

The taillights are awesome, the rear seats have headrests,
and the leather is like that of an expensive man's wallet.

I am so old that I had a killer original 1970 Challenger
AS MY PERSONAL DEMO ! Sublime R/T 440 6-Pac (6 Carbs)
and what a rioit was. I was sales manager and back in the day we could have (free) any car we wanted.
Mine came in wearing TWO window stickers, due to the 43 options I ordered. Dem was da daze !!! Single, flushed with $$$$ Age 25,
and healthy! Only down side was I had to work 9 to 9 4 days a week and 9-6 two days a week. 65 hour weeks !!

Funny, I was going to make a post about this car and the new 2010 Camaro.

Due to my recent need to buy a car, I was in quite a few dealerships, so I had the chance to actually sit in the new challenger and camaro. the challenger was a base model, but the camaro was a loaded SS. The looks of both IMO are knockouts. the interior of the camaro was awesome, but wasn't too impressed with the interior of the challenger, looked bland.

For the last 25 years or so, I've believed and felt that the camaro pretty much sucked. (1973-2003) Ford has proved that with their sales through the years even combining the fireturd and the camaro together. Even though for the last 20+ years motortrend and car and driver (morons)have been trying to tell us how much "better" the camaro was over the mustang. Whatever. They never did get it. The public voted with what they bought. Recently I read an article/comparison on a GT mustang vs. an SS camaro. lmao, yea, thats a fair fight. Surprisingly, the mustang didn't lose by much (in their opionion), so put the GT500 against it and it would've been over.

But I actually think that GM finally got it right with the camaro, and the same with the challenger (except too bad for them chrysler may not make it -from insiders)

About the new 2010 Stang, I like it, but I'm still "trying" to like the rearend. eh.... a little disappointing, IMO. Of course the shelby versions look much better.

Big statement. I like the Challengers too.

I'm surprised you'd sell the ASC though. You've devoted a lot of yourself to that car and to Capris in general.

I swear to god. Those cars are gorgeous.

I wonder if I can pick a used one up cheap in 6 years....

I have seen the rear end of the 2011 Mustang. It is changed, and you will like it better.
I have never even mildly liked any Camaro. In the 70s they were junky, cheap and rusted. Old feelings die hard. I DID take out a 2010 Challenger R/T and before the first red light, I feel in love.
But, not enough to sell any of my owned cars, who are like my children.

I love the look of the Challenger too guys. They really hit the target with that car. I have to admit I would buy one anytime if I could.
But on the performance side a friend of mine have owned one of the SRT8 with the big hemi and he said it was one of 500 special???. He owned at the same time a new GT500 and and told me the Challenger was a slug compared with the Shelby. He traded the Challenger for a top of the line Mitsubishi Lancer AWD.

As 'ya all know, I would never buy a vehicle that was not made by GM, Ford or Chrysler. IF I was ever to get a tatoo, it would say "BUY AMERICAN" ~ That said, a gun is put to my head & I am forced to buy a non American brand, I have always sorta kinda liked the Mitsubishi cars. I REALLY liked the Diamante, during the years it was sold in the USA, as well the "look" of the Lancer and some of their more upscale cars.
BUT to go from a Challenger SRT8 to a Lancer ???? That is a stretch! The Lancer might be fast and "zippy" - but it certainly lacks the luxury feel that the Dodge Challenger RT has. I also like the Charger SRT-8. IF they bring out a Challenger RT Convertible, I'm afraid I am gonna cave in.

Sandy, I agree that a Challenger convertible would be SUPER nice and would probably really hurt the Mustang market. My friend was in need of a winter familly car and his wife tought that the Challenger AND the Shelby GT500 were a litle too much for his own toys. He still own the Shelby convertible.

The Challenger looks great and the performance is excellent. Hang with a Corvette, though? Hmm.

My only complaint is with the interior, which looks too much like its 300 and Charger siblings, and not enough like a pony car. I understand why little was done to differentiate it ($$$), but it doesn't mean that I have to like it.

About 7 weeks ago my wife called me and told me she bought a new car and I was gonna have to go pick it up for her cause it was a stick. I was surprised she wanted something different, I thought she was really happy with her Hemi Magnum. My wife is hardly a car gal and can only halfway stomach my car shows on TV and my fiddeling with old cars. I was blown away to learn she bought a 6 speed, Hemi Orange, SRT8 Challenger Special Edition. It is an awesome machine. 13 Kicker speaker surround sound is amazing. She has become pretty good at driving it and I even taught her how to do a good burnout in it last weekend which was a lot of fun. It is her daily driver and I only get it occasionally but it is home today cause of 8 inches of snow yesterday.

Very cool

Wish my wife was just a tiny bit interested in cars. She'd never go by a new car without consulting me. Of course, I'd probably kill her if she did anyway. She thinks cars are for getting to point A to point B. She doesnt have a clue.
