Mustang vert door assembly

Post by darkhorse40 »

Has anyone had to put together the inside of their doors on a Mustang.

I bought my car with the interior mostly disassmbled, as it had just been painted. Alot of new seals, and parts that were not new in ziploc baggies.

The problem is that I'm not clear on where the square window felt pads screw onto in the inside of the door and where the outer window seals rivet on, as there are no rivet holes in the door, but there are rivet holes in the seal. If the seal goes on without rivets, how is it affixed to the door?

All help is deeply appreciated, Let me know if I need to be more specific or if I have the part names wrong.

Weatherstrip

Post by svo413 »

The outer beltline weather strip (dewwipe) just clips on. The rubber piece snaps onto the metal piece so you can easily reused the body colored meatal piece. The outter assembly just slips on and has built in clips.

The inner dew wipe is stapled to the door panel. Just drill holes and maunually. install the staples that come with the new weatherstrip. Be sure to hit the shiney staples with some black paint when done.

Edit: I should have mentioned this was for the Mustang and Capri up to 86. Not sure how much things changed after that.

Wow

That really helps me out.

I wonder why the holes are in the outer dew wipe. Maybe he bought the wrong year part.

Thanks
