It's too bad, but I think this one was one of those done back when these cars were a lot younger.
My philosophy is that if you buy a brand new car, and want to gut it to make it a racer, that's really up to you.
But if after 25+ years a rare car falls into your lap, and time has dwindled the numbers down to where the car is almost unique, you are an ass for raping it. You are little use to whatever hobby/enthusiast group has sprung up around the cars.
I think this car may fall into the former class because it was done so long ago. It's as if you decided in 1970 to buy a Boss 429 and tear it apart to race it. Hey, that's why you bought it. But buying a Boss 429 in 1995 is far different. You'd get strung up if you destroyed it 25 years later.

You may be on to something, I've emailed the seller (still working on getting the vin & buck tag info) and he told me the owner was 70 years old & stopped racing because of his age.negusm wrote:I think I know about this car.
I think it may have been a racer for a very long time. Just not sure on that...but it sticks in the back of my head.
