Buck tag "88

Post by 03Mach1 »

I am pretty sure this has been discussed, but I thought i'd post anyways. I've been meaning to check my buck tag for a long time and as I was detailing my vert for an upcoming show, I finally remembered to look at it. located behind the driver's side head light was the buck tag showing her as an lx. However, just to the right of the large buck tag was an additional skinnier one that reads "ASC Convertible" I compared this to the SSP mustangs of the day which had police and or other wording on it. I believe some of the Georgia bound ssp cars had "Georgia state police" written on the addition tags. anyways thought this was interesting so...

I could decode most of that tag for you, if you'd like.

Most of the decoders out on the web are wrong.

Don't bother. Foxchassis is way more accurate.

It's good for a read and all but it has some errors.

The FBMRG has Buck Tag info?

The '88+ Buck Tags are actually way easier to decode than the '87 and earlier tags.

the fbmrg has a diagram of a buck tag showing what each group of numbers or letters identifies. then go to the year for the codes. I know what my car has on her though. I just did not know it had a separate buck tag identifying asc. I am wondering if all came that way and if the merc coupes or verts had them. Has anyone else looked?
