Super Low Mile Capri

Sandy, notice the chrome accents on the interior.

I know you usually say this is wrong but the fact books all say that the Capri 5.OL (formerly RS) was to receive chrome interior accents unlike the Mustang GT which received black.

Wow... Mike, that's an amazing find! I'd love to have that car. It's even finished in my favorite color. 8)

Other than Sandys 700-mile car, that's the nicest one I've seen in ages... be interesting to see what it goes for, assuming the reserve is met.

It's nice but it does have a few small issues. Number one is missing the underhood pad.

1986 Capri on Ebay

Post by capri50asc »

This is a twin to my 86 Capri RS and it just 5 miles from my home. But.
No A/C, door locks, power hatch and I think it has a basic AM/FM radio. May take a look at it on Monday.

The underhood pad is shown under the paperwork. So that explains one little mystery.

Trust me, this is killing me. As a twin to my first Capri, this beauty is the ultimate for me. With the failing economy finally having reached the Texas commercial/construction law community a few months ago, it would be hard to justify laying out the cash for another toy.

Has anyone inquired as to what his reserve is?

this car does not have a 2000 mile new car feel to it. It has a refinished feel to it in my opinion. Are the hood stops supposed to be painted red? The intake manifold looks to be repainted to me, along with the front bumper. The under hood picture shows a bunch of black dust on it on the back. I would not expect this on a car that has only picked up 1970 miles in 24 years. Why remove the underhood pad? Are the chrome door handle trim and pw trim pieces normal? How does the door pocket get saggy when the car sat it's whole life? Why is the passenger side fog light crooked? A car that has 1900 miles and never has been in accident should look flawless.

I might just have to pick this up as a parts car for my mclaren :)

Hood stops are normally oversprayed.

I usually look at the seats. That appears to be the original upholstery and not a redo.

For those picking it apart, a 25 year old car is still going to wear if it is not attended to religeously like Sandy does to his. This car seems to have sat outside for a while. The gauges are somewhat faded and the iron axles are rusty, etc. All things that can age with no miles needed to put on the car.

On the whole, I would believe that this was a gently used car.

I agree with Mike. The sag can be attributed to age, not usage. Mine sag too. With 23,000 original mikles and always garaged.

My Corvette door pouches sag too. Just the nature of rubber bands.

I have often regretted saying something about another person's car, and have FINALLY learned to "Shut-Up" !!!

However..... Others on here have raised VERY real points, points that would concern me. Rubber hood Bumpers are installed AFTER an auto is painted, for anyone who is interested.
Hood pads belong on the hood. Usually.....

It's in especially good condition. It is not new.
The car IS better than the "Detailer" ~

and ..... sorry Mike, I have the dealer book and WITH PICTURES included, it shows & states the on RS & (1986) 5.0L models the interior switchgear and switchgear frames are flat black (plastic).
Sandy passed away in 2012. He will be forever missed.
