I still haven't had time to upload it. I got the deluxe report for 40 bucks. Funny it says only 1000 asc's were made in 88.

Kevin Marty pulls the numbers out of Ford's production database. There is obviously a discrepancy between the two sources.

I've had a small discussion with Kevin.

According to the Ford database there are some VINs Sandy has that don't "look" to be ascMcLarens.

I am unsure how the determination is made on Kevin's part as to what in the database points the car to be an asc or not. Only Kevin is licensed by Ford to access the database.

I do feel very certain that Kevin would not "make up" numbers. He knows too well how badly things go with the classic crowd where numbers aren't accurate. There is something both we and Kevin are missing in regards to the data Ford recorded for our cars.

So some background info on Kevin Marti. Pretty much 65-66 mustang records were destroyed by ford. 67-99 Records have been saved and catologed. If you pay Kevin Marti he will collect data on your car and email/mail it to you. He will also restamp VINS ( legally with proper documentation, I had to do this with a 67 gt350 and it was a terror), he will also remake door stickers/tags, window stickers...ect. Up until maybe a few months ago 86 was the newest report that he was making. He just started to do 87-99 cars which is cool. Im not sure with our cars but older models that have are considered rare ( boss, shelby, super cobra jet) it can increase the valve when being sold or going to auction.

As for the two issues I have with the report 1000 asc units made and also there is a ( CHECK DIGIT) next to the X on the top left. I spent 40 dollars for the report and I feel even if its not 100% correct it will help show at car shows that our cars were considered "factory" conversions in a way.

Okay, so let me state my case !

Post by Sandy »

#1. I have all the VINS from 1986; 87; 88; 89 and 90. They were not sent to me, by FoMoCo. They were sent to me FROM asc/McLaren, whom listed every unit that they converted. Furthermore. after a particular year's cars were all done, they put the VINs in order, so that it would be easy to locate one. Furthermore, they also listed next to each VIN, the dealership it was shipped to ! Now, if XYZ Ford had a white car and a buyer wanted a black car, and black was located 8 miles away, and swap was made between dealer "A" and dealer "B" - they were required to inform asc/MClaren so that the listing would be correct. Otherwise, a defect or a problem under ASC would not be repaired under the ASC warerantee, making sure that dealers complied.
I 100% stand by my numbers.
Furthermore, I also have the LIMITED EDITION dash plaque numbers.

]They were not considered "Factory Conversions" !! They were considered Factory Pre-Prep'd for & to converrtor specs (as requested).
Under CODE D32

HERE ARE THEIR VINS;

all 1,015 of them are here:

144,456 through and including 144,505

NO NO NO....THE REPORT IS CORRECT, THEREIN !!

Hear me out....

All "Mules" ordered to become an ascMcLaren WITH BLUE interior, were factory painted (by Ford) in WHITE, because the computer was set to throw-out a black exterior WITH a blue interior.

ALL other orders for any other color, in any year, that did not select blue interior, wore black paint exterior. WHY ? Black in the engine bay looked fine, but white in the engine compartment looked mickey-mouse.

Imagine a Red car, black interior, black roof and a white engine compartment :puke:

Look at the Marti Report & you will see D32. THAT was the internal code for our cars.

Somewhere on this site, I have also listed WHERE the ascMcLaren colors came from, in case you or anyone else needs repairs or touch up paint.

The "X" in your vin is the "check digit". Simply put the letter means nothing. The digit was put there to verify a vin.
