UPDATE! Sterling Hts Mi Asc Mclaren $4,900......Almost done

Post by acejones »

Hi, all I heard about Sandys death a couple of weeks ago, he was a very good man, I had only talked to him via phone a couple of times and I felt like I knew him forever. Sandy you will be missed RIP my friend.

I bought this car in febuary of 2011 and it was clean but I wanted to change a few things with it.

I didnt like the ASC interior so I found mint condition 93 black leather interior
20" FOOSE nitrous wheels
Cobra ground effects
2.5" Cowl Induction hood
New Headlights and clear corner
Billet steering wheel
Billet accessories in interior
Full Auto Meter gauges
and much,much more

It took me a long time to get it where it is now, hope you like it. Please let me know what you think

Hi, I'm not driving it yet, I'm having some exhaust work done Mac headers, Mac pro chamber h-pipe,40 series flowmasters, and 2 1/2 stainless steel tips. I no longer live in Michigan, I moved to beautiful Arizona and loving every second of it!

I have seen quite a few Mclaren out here and they were all in great shape!!

Thank you! I have tried to get them straight as I can, is there something you can suggest to help me out? I was thinking of buying some Recaro's or Sparco's. I would love to keep the ones I have in it though they are really nice, any help would be greatly appricated.

Wow-those 20's fill the wheel wells.
Are you in Phoenix? Do you ever visit the Pavilions in Scottsdale?

Hmmm, did they sit ok outside the car?

How are the floor on the car, no cracks in the sheet metal where they mount is there?

I know that was an issue with regular mustangs/capris on the driver side but not sure how reinforced the floors are on the ASC.

Sometimes the seats themselves are tweaked and have the so called "gangsta-lean" which is the seat back frames are tweaked, which can be fixed with a little work. You would need to unbolt the seat top from bottom and take the upholstery off, then lay the seat backing flat on the ground to see if it is bent, usually the welds let go and need to be retacked.

Here is a write up done on the 86 seat.

If you choose to attack this yourself, you will need to get yourself some "Hog Ring Pliers" and some "Hog Rings"

This set is great right here

Then you can get the rings here

Every Saturday night at the Pavilions "Rock and Roll" McDonald's (101 and Indian Bend Road) is a car show (display really). When it's hot people get there later and stay later (usually 6-10pm) and when it's cooler around 3-6pm. Cars/trucks/bikes come and go all night long. Fourth Saturday is Mustang nite-we got two full rows to park in and we're allowed to double park.

Shows are starting to crank up around the valley already and by September there are 4~6 shows on every weekend. We're caravaning up on Friday Sept 7 through Prescott to Flagstaff for the Route 66 show. It is already sold out (425 cars max) but the cars are on the closed down town streets. Then Sat night we have a pot luck dinner at Ramada West hotel.

Look for more info on all events:

I'm in Gilbert a couple of times a week for work but I live in N Phoenix. My daughter wants to be at the Pavilions this Saturday night. The weather should be ok. We usually go around 7pm (as the sun is going down). Pretty soon movie nights start back up at our house. We invite all the car folks over and show movies out back. We have a 20 x 30 foot screen.

Sterling Hts.? I remember Sterling Hts. from my 12+ years at TRW. Now long gone. It was at 34201 VanDyke. We rode up Van Dyke last September and I didn't recognize the area.

My daughter and son in law live in Washington, Mi. He retired, as a project engineer. from GM with 40 years! Started on a work/school program when he was 16.

I moved back to Florida, for good, in Dec. 1977.

yeah, good old Sterling Hts Mi, I bought the car from Jerome Duncan Ford on Van Dyke. I was born and raised in Mi but I was sick of the winters so I moved to Az. I LOVE IT HERE!
