Left power window does not work

Post by randyveach »

It just quit. No noise, so smoke, nothing. One minute it worked, then in an instant it didn't. I took the door panel off, looking for a plug not hooked up, but found everything looking good. The right door works O.K. I looked for a fuse box and could not find one. The book said it was under the left dash, but I still didn't see it. Any and all help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Randy Veach

Power Window

Post by capri50asc »

Mine did the same thing a couple of years ago. Have some one work the switch and you move the window up a and down. Get a good grip on it. Also tap the power window motor . If it come loose Use lithium grease on the track where the regulator slides on and spray something like WD-40 into the motor. These motors are pretty tough but they can get hung up .

Good luck Chris :)

Have you checked the switch itself? They come apart and are easily cleaned.

the fuse book is under the steering wheel and you have to remove two screws to access it.

with door panel off upplug and test with a test light

Windows

The motors also get weak and the window sticky. My passenger window would stick in the down position. Sometimes just rev. the engine and the increased voltage would get it going.

THANKS to everyone. An old corvette pushrod and hammer fixed the problem.
