little edgey but not too bad for miles has the 140 speedo and looks like it spent some time on salt roads and dig that window vin etching

but at least he listed it correctley under mustangs

It makes an overall nice appearance. What we used to call "A front line piece" >> when I owned my used car lot.

Or it could also double as tonight's "Find What's Wrong" feature presentation.

I like it and the no reserve price sounds to good to be true, but I hate the pin stripes, center wheel caps and front windshield decal. It would look better with the white wheels and/or silver/black wheel inserts. Or maybe converted back to it's original color scheme. I have not seen one with all the original white and orange wheels/stripes/parts in place as described in Sandy's facts sheets, so I really do not know if this was an improvement or disaster! Looks a little bland being all gray and white.

Considering the rareity of the vehicle makes it interesting. Hey Mike, is this one already counted or number 5 of the 9 automatics built? Or does this car not even qualify?

The 9 automatics refer only to the full-packaged 115 units. It appears that ascMcLaren did NOT keep track of how the EuroCoupes were made, nor optioned.

Here a pic of an UNmolested CORRECT 1986 ascMcLaren EuroCoupe:-

Now, the front lower air dam is incorrect. It should have the same as a normal full packaged ascMcLaren coupe.

The side quarters windows herein have been tinted dark. They should be clear (or "Stock") ~ ~ Lastly takenote of the pencil thin orange stripe in the groove of the bodyside moulding. Thisis correct!! Also in the leading front edge of the rear side windows is a small ascMcLaren decal.

The pencil this stripe does a 360 (Bumper/Body/Bumper) around the car.
Optionals were the norm, including Cruise & T-Top or Pop Up Sun Roof, Automatic Pwr. Locks and A/C.

The seat piping was RED, and the dash bore NO number plaque. The rear spoiler was supposed to be unpainted gel black.

Car came in Oxford White or Raven Black or Smoke Charcoal Grey Metallic. $ 3,350.00 MSRLP for the EuroCoupe Package.

A WHITE EuroCoupe is the easiest to spot because they all had ORANGE rims - NOT White !! !! Whereas, Full Packaged White units wore matching White Rims !! !!

Sure is alot of rust inside the engine compartment, who knows what the paint is hiding, plus, those don't look like the correct side skirts

oh yeah, original is awesome!!! The accents tie it all together. Thanks for the pics and info Sandy. That is a really nice looking car. Unfortunately, the one on ebay will probably never resemble this one again.

This is another Eurocoupe with mistakes....

Leather steering wheel and grey piped seats. I don't think the seats have been recovered since there is a rip on the driver's side and the material is not like the reproductions.

Those seat covers are way too clean & perfect for the mileage & age. I'd bet good money they are out of some other McLaren. They have no Red piping, so they are from a full packaged example. Remember.... Euros were builtby FoMoCo WITHOUT a D82 ascMcLaren porduction code, so they GOT stock 5.0/GT seats, with the red piping.....

I need to point out one other small detail. I stated that on the EuroCoupes the side rear windows were normal. Meaning they did not get the supplemental aluminum frame to hold the smoked black plexiglass covers over the real underneath factory glass. This is correct. Howver, EuroCoupes DID get at ascMcLaren the matching smoked black plexiglass little triangular covers over the faux vents, just rearward of the side rear windows, between them & the opening of the hatch. These "plugs" were installed at ascMcLaren. You will see (percentage-wise) more EuroCoupes equipped WITH the T-Top option than you will see T-Topped Full Packaged cars. This is (was) becuse initially the T-Top was going to be standard equipment on the Euros. Remember, they came at or near the end of production, (or Summertime into early Autumn). Ford & ascMcLaren also thought it was a good way to increase T-Top sales, and also to perhaps make up for the lower content of the Euro. THEREFORE more (in percents) Euros were made with T-Tops. However, initial dealer responce was negitive to the added $1,100 added to the price of a suppossed "cheaper" version, so after a bunch of T-Top Euros were made, they returned to a "buy order only" attitude. Remeber, only 21 of the 47 Euros were ascMcLaren made, The remaining 26 were Northtown L-M made. Of the original 21 my quesstimated number with T-Tops would be around 15 or so, based upon the number I have located, or 70% installation rate. I have no clue on the OTHER 46 units. Remember, the other 46 units NEVER stopped off at ascMcLaren, but went from Dearborn Assembly Plant directly to Northtown Lincoln-Mercury, followed by boxed parts.

The Leather wrapped Steering Wheel rim & ascMcLaren Horn Pad together with the leather wrapped shifter were NOT standard on the EuroCoupes !!

ALSO, the rear spoiler on EuroCoupes WAS INDEED correctly shown on the 4-sale car above. On Euros they were painted (NOT black Euros) but Smoke Charcoal Grey OR Oxford Whte). On Full Packaged Coupes in Oxford White the spoilers were NOT painted. Confused yet?

A EuroCoupe in Oxford White will have orange wheels & painted spoiler.
A Full-Packaged Oxford White coupe will have matching white wheels and UNpainted spoiler.

ALL Black coupes have UNpainted spoilers. ALL Smoke Grey coupes HAVE painted spoilers. Euro or not.

ALL Dark Blue coupes have UNpainted Spoilers. Hope this makes it clearer.
