Greetings Sandy. Would you happen to know any of the history of this fine looking 86? It closed at only $5200 without meeting reserve. I am curious what you think a car with this few miles should realistically sell for. Ever since that red one I turned away in 1999, I've always wanted another 86 Convert and would consider making them an offer.

Are those the correct door panels for that car?

Looks like maybe replacements?

Something feel right about that mileage.

so the door panels could have been the coupe style (what I would refer to as GT convertible door panels with the higher carpet) or the fancier ASC style panels?

I can't believe that thing didn't go higher, it's a beauty.

I did only bid $2000 but wasn't home for the finish and I don't do high proxies for big stuff, I like to snipe the bigger stuff.

Something is really wrong. A mint, low miles 86 Capri McLaren, triple black, WITH RECAROS IN PERFECT CONDITION, with Cruise Control in Long Island cannot bring $5,500.00 ?? ?? ??

He could get $5,500 on a darn trade-in allowance !! I woulda bought it and bought the head & taillamp covers from Hank as well as the lower ground effects/fog lights and what a fantastic car I'd have.

This does not bode well for any of us (me with 2) who have these cars. I think that the only way to pull down any respectible money is to have a mint example and ONLY advertise it in the Robb Report or similiar places. Seems to me that e-bay doesn't bring the prices, doesn't have the high income, high roller buyer and that people are super fearful of everything.
No Neiman Marcus clientale on e-bay. More like Fire Sale Buyers.

Those of you on here with truly mint ascMcLarens, (Bensalam Mike?) if you were gonna sell, would YOU turn to E-Bay ?

Seems to me that the only stuff that sells on e-bay is like 1988 4WD Hi Boy Chevy Blazers with "only" 145,000 miles and "a little rust " ~

There is a white 86 asc vert. 5 minutes from my house for sale. If your interested I can get you more info or give you directions to where it's at...

Sandy, I've sold a few decent priced cars on ebay in the past. I had a 93 Teal Cobra with 17.5k miles that I sold to buy a house. It brought in 18k.

Also sold my cousins 24k mile 87 GN which brought in 17.5k. Heck, I even sold my old average condition white 86 GT convertible for $4600 which was more than I was expecting!

I guess it depends on the car and the target audience.

I contacted the seller to see what kind of numbers they are looking for.

Mike you read my mind!! I drove by that car when I was in Bensalem a few months ago and thought for sure it would be gone by now. It was the same one that was on ebay and didn't sell if I am correct?

It's not the one in the auction Sandy posted. Looks just like it though except has phone dials. I see it just about everyday!! lol. It went from being in front of someones house...to someone else's house, to sitting in a gas station parking lot.

I'm not sure how that 85 came up, but that White 86 ASC in Bensalem was definately on ebay sometime in the middle of summer. I remember seeing it and realizing how close it was to home. The auction ended with only $3500 or so, and didn't meet reserve. Then one day a few weeks later, I was driving through your neighborhood and found out it was the same car as was on ebay.

Have you seen it close up? i wonder what kind of condition it's in? I'll have to check it out one night this week after work if you can let me know which gas station it's at. My wife will kill me if I come home with another car.

I looked at it up close one day a while back. It's not too bad...I didn't inspect with a fine tooth comb but the interior looked nice and it's definitely been repainted. I think the price on the window was like 8k though...I thought that was a bit high. Let me know and I'll def give you directions...

I had bid 5151.11 and when that didn't hit the reserve. I planned on bidding more but I was too busy and missed it. Oh well that does look like a nice one though.
