Need design idea

Post by ASCMCLRN »

I contacted someone who sells Billet aluminum battery hold down boxes. He said he can do some custom applications so I was wondering if anyone had some design ideas that would be suitable. Normal predesigned boxes are about $120, these will be $180 and up depending on how complex it gets. I was thinking of it reading "ASC MCLAREN" and having a pony emblem on top or underneath. Any ideas? Thanks!

You think they can get the ascMcLaren text right? lower case "asc" as big as the upper letters of McLaren?? If so do it!!

NICE!! That was a printout...the one above is actual machined metal...still working on a way to weave a snake through a merc symbol with the metal!! 8)

I have been trying to find someone to do the intake with an ASC McLaren logo. I found people who would make plates for stock, explorer, cobra or GT40 intakes, but I have a Trick Flow. I need the logo machined into the upper intake itself.

Exactly the intake. Is is already ground flat, but I think nobody wants to screw it up as they would be machining the whole plenum, not just a plate.

Why not polish the surface smooth so you can have it painted with a stensil ASC McLaren?

Now my question which you may need answered also is do we have it done all in caps or case sensitive?

Because paint is so ordinary and machining is so cool. 8)

You really dont think a nice powdercoating (blue) of the whole intake with ASC McLaren (popsicle orange) wouldnt look good?

Can you have the intake polished aluminum and then have it engraved across the top ASC McLaren somewhere? BTW I have to decide what exactly I want done to the Cobra intake I am going to put on so this is pretty interesting thinking of what options there are.

The intake will be dark gray as my car. I'll keep looking for a shop to do it. I had a custom plate made with a Falcon logo when I had my 63 that I swapped to fuel injection, but sadly have no pics anymore. Intakes that have a removable plate or sticker have a bunch of options.

You could tape off the asc logo with rubber sandblasting tape and hit the exposed area with a blast of silica.

It would etch (like in glass etching) the surface. It would be somewhat different although not maybe as cool as machining.

Just a thought.

So just get get some machined lettering to put on the intake...
For example...something like this...(minus the ties...thats the only way I could get it done...once I polish it and cut the ties it will be awesome) :)
