Hello,
Everybody I just picked up both cars today. I know the one wrecked everybody knows about. The 2nd one I bought here in Oklahoma. The guy that owned it want $6,000 a couple of years ago. I bought it for $2,000 and the wrecked one for $2,500. My buddy who is pretty heavy into fox body's looked at the wrecked one and said we could fix it. I hope? One car is missing the fog lights the other is complete but wrecked both have original kenwood radios and radar detectors. I am in the Navy stationed out here in Oklahoma been in for 18 years now. I plan on doing frame off restorations to both cars. I am sure I will be asking you all alot of questions regarding the restoration. Let me know what you all think am I crazy did I bite off more than I can Chew Ha Ha?
Kyle,
The car is my wifes. It is a 1967 Volvo P1800 the saint car. This is why I was able to buy the mclarens she has her car now I have mine. The problem is when both coupes are restored I have a funny feeling she will inherit one Ha/Ha.
Matt
Ok,
I got the first non-wrecked car running today. I am trying to find out what years the front grille interchange will a mustang grille work? I need to replace the one on the non-wrecked car as it is the incorrect grille. Does anybody have a source for one?
Thanks Matt
The grille in her now is a 1979-1982 grille. You'd be wanting a 1985/1986 Capri Grille. To be correct, it should be all black plastic. If you find one with silver frontal edging that's okay to. Thats from the lesser GS model and you can paint the edging dark charcoal to match. I am not too sure any Mustang grille will fit properly AND look good.

Ok,
Guy's the brake line on the running car below the proportioning valve is leaking bad. Also there is some pretty good rust going on in that area. My buddy said that the master cylinder must have been leaking brake fluid there for a while because of the cancer. He said that brake fluid will eat away metal I have never seen anything like that before. The rest of the car is rust free just in this area and directly across on the other side has some cancer also looks like the part of the frame rails in the engine bay is this common on fox body's?
Thanks Matt
The frame rail rot is common in the norther states especially on the passenger side due to the battery. You can have them replaced if there is not enough material to clean up and add metal to. It seems difficult but it is not too bad of a repair if you have the engine out and the fenders off. Note that if you see rust on the inside then it is very likely that you will see some on the outside of the rail as well.
I like your wife's P1800. My dad used to own (about 10 years ago) the exact model car in the same condition as this one appears to be in. If you happen to know if the speaker holes were lazily "cut" using a series of many, many drill holes, or any other "personalized" features of the car, let me know. Given the relative proximity (dad's in Missouri), perhaps its a huge coincidence and its the same car.
Good luck with the brakes on the Volvo. From what I remember, they were an absolute maintenance nightmare.
